Dan was looking for a change in the retail arena.  He was working for a large retail store that handled soft and hard goods.  He was looking for an organization that was financially sound and with the opportunity to move up.  He agreed to take an experimental position with Bed, Bath and Beyond.  He will be in training for a year and then be promoted to a District Manager position.  (This is not the usual hiring practices of BBB.  They usually promote from within and you must come up through the ranks.)  Due to Dan’s extensive experience in retail, they decided to hire from the outside.  Dan will be in Colorado for the first year and has agreed to move to other locations with appropriate compensation in the future.  Once Dan is a DM, he will receive bonuses, stock options and many more perks.  BBB also owns the Christmas Tree Shops and Buy Buy Baby.  BBB will also be taking over leases from Linen and Things over the next year.  Upon the completion of training Dan will earn a salary of $120K annually with full benefits and three weeks vacation a year.

Client comments – Janice recently accepted a position as a Project Manager at Resources Global Professionals:

Jo, thank you and your team for all your support, guidance, and timely delivery of requested research documents and interview follow-up letters.  What makes GCM stand out for me is that I felt at home in your office and could spill my guts without fear of being judged with condescension. I miss our weekly talks!

I must honestly admit to my skepticism that GCM could help me find a higher paying position.  Yet, that is exactly what happened in that I now have a higher paying position, great benefits, work life balance, and a Company that believes in employees’ professional development.

Jo, an additional thanks for keeping me on task and not to give up on finding another position.  Yes, the cold calls were not a joy to do although they do help build self-confidence and phone skills.  Do remind people that cold calls do work and always be ready for call backs from the cold call contact.
